Chanteur Country Canadien né en 1922 à Halifax (Nova Scotia). Il est décédé le 2 Décembre 1987.

Born in 1922, Nova Scotia, Canada, d. 2 December 1987. Whelan began singing as a small child and in his early teens played guitar. In the early 50s he established himself as a popular artist on radio, appearing regularly on CBC, Canada’s national radio network, as well as on several local outlets. Among these appearances, Whelan hosted and performed on his own show, usually leading his band, the Western Serenaders. He also wrote many songs, but included in his repertoire familiar country favourites, all of which he performed with warmth and affection. Among the songs Whelan recorded are ‘At The End Of A Long Lonely Day’, ‘I Dreamed Of An Old Love Affair’, ‘The Letter Edged In Black’, ‘Harvest Rose Of San Antone’, ‘If I Had A Million Dreams To Dream’ and ‘I Don’t Want To Feel Blue’, ‘Have I Told You Lately That I Love You’, ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’, ‘Near The Cross’ and ‘Rockin’ Alone In An Old Rockin’ Chair’. In 1999, he was inducted posthumously into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. (NB: Not to be confused with the Irish composer Bill Whelan of Riverdance fame.)
