singer, "Curley Jim" Morrison was already before 1958 in the music scene
Miamis active as a country musician. The triumph of rock 'n' roll but
Morrison forced to adapt to the changes, because he had lost much popularity. In
March 1958 he played for the small label Metro Records the number-energy rock
and roll Itch one. Together with the milder air force blues , but the single was
perceived only in the vicinity of Miami. Morrison was in this time of the band
The Billey Rocks accompanied.
After Metro due to a dispute with the major label MGM Records was forced to
close, Morrison moved to Henry Stone label Mida Records , which also was based
in Miami. Together with the Billey Rocks, he played rock and roll Itch andAir
Force blues again, this time a total of slightly more reserved. He reduced the
pace of Rock and Roll Itch and dispensed by an echo effect, this time built a
piano in the songs. Once again, the single is not reached the national
charts.Nevertheless, he was allowed to import at Mida 1959 a second single,
Sloppy, Sloppy Suzie . This song was an instrumental, each of which was sung a
verse, of Morrison, at the beginning and at the end started or ended.
Beginning of the 1960s faded, the success of rock and roll and rockabilly, so
Morrison turned back to country music. In
Glenwood , Illinois , he founded his own label, Curly Q Records, on which he
released his own records. His first single was released there in April 1963 with
Ace in the Hole / Bill Bailey . In the following years, Morrison played a
further plates, the big breakthrough came but did not reach it.
Today, Morrison is known for numerous re-releases on rockabilly compilations,
especially this scene. Overall, since 1980, his songs are back again on 14
different publications.
