Chanteur US né le 12 janvier 1907, originaire de Murvaul (Texas), Tex Ritter a débuté en 1929 à New York comme chanteur et acteur mais ce n'est qu'à partir de 1934 qu'il enregistra pour Arc, Champion, Conqueror et Decca Records. Devenu "Singin' Cowboy" à Hollywood en 1936, il signe en 1942 chez Capitol et connaît le succès. Il a été élu au Country Music Hall Of Fame en 1964. Tex Ritter est mort à Nashville le 2 Janvier 1973, après avoir été l'un des Cowboys chantant les plus populaire, grâce à la truculence de son accent et de son phrasé de vieux baroudeur.
