Bassiste et fiddler Country US né George Clinton Fisher, le 26 Septembre 1907 à Tabler, Grady County (Oklahoma). Shug Fisher a fait parti des "Sons Of The Pioneers". Il est décédé le 16 Mars 1984.
Born George Clinton Fisher, 26 September 1907, Spring Creek, near Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma, USA, d. 16 March 1984. Later a member of the Sons Of The Pioneers, by the age of 16, Fisher was playing the fiddle and had also developed a natural talent for comedy. He moved to California, where he made a living at various jobs, including fruit-picking and labouring in oilfields. He played fiddle at local dances and made his radio debut on KMS Fresno in 1927. In 1931, he worked with the Hollywood Hillbillies, where he first played bass fiddle, and the following year, he became a member of the Beverly Hillbillies. In the mid-30s, he worked with Stuart Hamblem and Roy Faulkner, before linking up with Hugh Cross. They played together in West Wheeling for almost four years, before moving to WLW Cincinnati, to host their popularHugh And Shugs’s Radio Pals. In 1941, Fisher returned to Los Angeles to undertake defence work and entertained locally. Late in 1943, he became a member of the Sons Of The Pioneers, when their comedian and bass player Pat Brady was drafted. He remained a member until Brady returned in 1946, but rejoined in 1949, when Brady left for film and television work with Roy Rogers. He remained a Pioneer until 1953, when he joined Ken Curtis to work in films and on radio and television. In 1955, when Deuce Spriggens left the Pioneers, he was persuaded to return and stayed with the group until 1959 when he retired, stating it was time he ‘kinda took it easy and did a lot of hunting and fishing’. However, this was soon postponed when, until 1961, he became a regular on Red Foley’s The Ozark Jubilee at Springfield, Missouri. With retirement still on hold, he returned to Hollywood, where he played many film and television character parts, including a regular role in Ripcord with Ken Curtis, 19 episodes ofBeverly Hillbillies and several roles inGunsmoke. Deteriorating health finally forced him into retirement and after a long illness, with old friend Ken Curtis at his side, Fisher died on 16 March 1984.
